Pontypridd YMCA – Our New Home
Opening in Spring 2022 Pontypridd YMCA is currently undergoing an ambitious redevelopment project which will bring the historic building back into use, for the benefit of the community. The goal of the project is to create a facility that can amplify the energy and vitality of the Valleys and make a difference to people’s lives through participation in high-quality arts experiences.
This work is being undertaken with funding from the Arts Council of Wales and Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, and the ambitious plans will bring the historic local venue back into community use by Spring 2022. Once operational, the centre will be run by Artis Community Cymuned on behalf of the stakeholders.
With building work coming along nicely, Artis is gearing up to moving in to our new home this autumn, with plans to open the doors to the public before the end of the year. The building will be home to a studio theatre, a cafe, creche and the famous Shelley Hall. Once open, there will be a full programme of arts workshops and activities as well as performances and events in the studio theatre and Shelley Hall.
