Light Up The Dark
Here at Artis, during the dark winter months, we have been getting creative in the community to have a little fun and help bring a bit of light into our lives.
In February we ran three, free special Saturday workshops online to inspire the community to dress their front windows and bring some light and creativity to the street where they live.
- Make your own at home:
In our first workshop, Sandra Gustafsson, performance designer and maker, created some wonderful Nature Lanterns with participants. Here’s an activity sheet where you can make your own!
In our second workshop Susan Joshi, Artist & printmaker, made Kite Lanterns out of recycled materials in the home. All you need to make this yourself is a plastic bag or newspaper or any light material like tissue paper, string, 2 sticks, (these can be collected from the woods), or paper straws and scissors. Here’s how you can make your own!
In our final workshop, Helen Hughes – Creative Arts Practitioner & Participatory Artist created Spring lanterns with flowers and beautiful butterflies to decorate. Here’s how you can make your own.
- Take part in our competition and WIN an Artis Art Warrior Pack:
Show us your window display by Saturday 13th of March to be entered into the competition to win one of our special Artis Art Warrior Packs. Simply send in your pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org and the best display will win a prize. Go for it!
