Chair – Pontypridd YMCA

We are delighted to announce that our friends at Pontypridd YMCA are recruiting for a new chair of the Board. As Artis Community Cymuned and Pontypridd YMCA work together towards the opening of our new multi-million pound home in the heart of Pontypridd in the summer of 2021, this role will play an integral part in the process as a figure-head to the new development. We would welcome expressions of interest from a passionate and qualified candidate to work with both organisations on this landmark project and the cultural future of Rhondda Cynon Taff.

Pontypridd YMCA are currently undertaking an ambitious redevelopment project which will bring the historic 1910 building back into use for the benefit of the community. This is being undertaken with funding from the Arts Council of Wales and Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council. The goal of the project is to create a facility that can amplify the energy and vitality of the Valleys and make a difference to people’s lives through participation in high quality arts experiences.

The ambitious plans will bring the historic local venue back into community use by mid 2021 and will be run by Artis Community on behalf of the Pontypridd YMCA.

Pontypridd YMCA is seeking a highly credible individual to chair its Board of Trustees and help develop and deliver the organisation’s strategic objectives. This is an opportunity to work with the organisation during an exciting period of redevelopment, providing strategic direction and supporting its aims, goals and objectives.

Candidates should have experience of serving on boards as well as having the ability to lead and support Trustees, enabling them to fulfil their responsibilities for the overall governance and strategic direction. You will be required to actively contribute towards improving the governance of the board and be committed to delivering the strategy approved by the Board of Trustees in consultation with its funders and other stakeholders. Strong networking capabilities are essential as is the ability to foster community engagement.
