Artis to play key role in future of revamped Pontypridd YMCA
Artis Community has welcomed confirmation that work is to commence on the redevelopment of Pontypridd YMCA, with funding from Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council and the Arts Council of Wales.
As part of the agreement with the funding partners, Artis Community will run the newly redeveloped building on behalf of Pontypridd YMCA.
The valleys participative arts organisation will base itself at the newly refurbished YMCA building, and work with other groups and organisations in the area to offer a range of social, creative and educational opportunities once it reopens.
Artis Community Chief Executive, Jên Angharad said: “The redevelopment of Pontypridd YMCA is great news for the Arts and cultural sector in our area, and the Artis Community team is really excited to be a central part of these plans.
“It is a building that is well established in the hearts of people in Pontypridd, and without this much needed investment it would no doubt be lost forever. We now look forward to playing our part in this ambitious plan which will breathe new life into a much loved part of Pontypridd town.
“When we assume responsibility for running the facility on behalf of Pontypridd YMCA, we intend to work with a range of partners in order to deliver on the values of the organisation, and ensure people can come there to enjoy all kinds of social, creative and educational experiences.”
